The work in this portfolio was created using an introspective and intuitive process. My interest in mythology, alchemy, and Jungian psychology was what guided me to the use of this process.

Around 1991 I made a conscious effort to define the significance of the recurring element of water in my earlier works. Water has been associated with the unconscious, the feminine, birth or renewal, healing and transformation. These are the associations that interest me most in relation to my work.

An attempt has been made to cut down on my usual tendency to overwork or censor the images that come to mind while preparing for a painting or print. In doing so, I hope to learn what my unconscious is trying to reveal to my waking mind. Through the actual process of painting, carving or printing I have time to question the images and learn more about my self while creating images that might spark the introspective process in others.
